Assets License
This page governs the use of all digital assets (collectively, "The Assets") distributed through our platform. When we refer to our "Platform" in this License, we mean dendewa.vercel.app and all associated pages, tools, and services we provide. Individuals and organizations who access or download the Assets are referred to as "Users."
By downloading or using any of the Assets, you accept the terms outlined in this License. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you are not permitted to use the Assets. You may also contact us at dendewalab@outlook.com with any questions about these terms.
License Overview
Our Assets cover a wide range of digital works made available through our platform for use in creative and technical projects. We offer these Assets to Users directly through our platform, and the terms on this page apply to all such materials unless otherwise stated on the individual asset page.
We may update this License from time to time, at our sole discretion. If we do, we will post the updated terms on this page, along with a revised "Last updated" date. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting. We encourage you to review this page regularly for any updates.
The version of this License in effect on the date you downloaded a copy of an Asset is the version that governs your use of that copy. If we later update this License, the updated terms apply going forward, to new downloads and to your continued use of the Platform, but they do not retroactively narrow rights, or expand obligations, attached to a copy you already downloaded under an earlier version. Continuing to use the Platform after a change is posted means you accept the updated terms for that continued use.
Asset Categories
Not all Assets on our platform share the same licensing terms. To understand which rules apply to a given Asset, you first need to identify which category it belongs to. You are responsible for determining the correct category before using any Asset.
Original Assets
Assets conceived, authored, and produced directly by us. Unless otherwise stated on the individual asset page, all original works are governed entirely by the terms described in this document.
Contributed Assets
Assets authored by third-party creators and hosted on our platform solely for distribution. We do not own, and hold no licensing authority over, any contributed work. For these Assets, you must refer to and comply with the license terms set by each creator. If those terms are unclear or unavailable, contact the creator directly before using the Asset. If you receive no response or clarification, treat the Asset as all-rights-reserved and limit use to personal, non-commercial evaluation.
Separately from the creator's own license, we require every contributing creator to agree, as a condition of hosting their work on our Platform, that the Restrictions in this License apply to their Asset for as long as it stays hosted here. This is a contractual condition between us and the contributing creator, governing distribution on our Platform. It does not give us ownership of, or licensing authority over, the underlying work, and it does not override rights the creator has already granted you directly under their own license. If a creator's terms conflict with our Platform Restrictions, the creator's terms govern your relationship with the creator, and our Platform Restrictions govern only your use of our Platform to access or redistribute the hosted copy.
Copyright Claims
We respect the intellectual property rights of others and expect our Users to do the same. If you believe an Asset on our Platform infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, you may submit a claim to us for review.
To submit a claim, contact us at dendewalab@outlook.com with the following information:
Identification of the Work
Identification of the work you claim has been infringed.
Identification of the Asset
Identification of the specific Asset you allege is infringing, including its location on our Platform.
Contact Information
Your contact information.
Good Faith Statement
A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
Once we receive a valid claim, we will review it and may remove or disable access to the relevant Asset while we investigate. As noted in Asset Categories, we do not own Contributed Assets, and where applicable, we may forward your claim to the original creator for direct resolution.
If your Asset is removed or disabled because of a claim and you believe this was done in error, you may submit a counter-notice to the same address. Include an explanation of why you believe the claim is mistaken, along with any supporting information establishing your right to distribute the Asset. We will review counter-notices in good faith, but we retain sole discretion over whether and when to restore access to an Asset, and a counter-notice alone does not obligate us to reinstate it.
Usage & Credit
Subject to your compliance with these terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use our original Assets as described below. We may provide additional information about specific Assets elsewhere on our platform.
Commercial & Non-Commercial Use
You may use the Assets in both commercial and non-commercial projects, including monetized video content, interactive media, and private or internal works.
Modification & Forking
You may use our Assets as a base or starting point for your own work. This includes editing source files, adjusting parameters, extending functionality, or building new work on top of what we've made available, as long as you follow the rest of this license. No matter how much you modify an Asset, any work that incorporates, derives from, or builds on it remains subject to the restrictions in Restrictions, including those on commercialization and relicensing.
Mandatory Attribution
No matter how you use an Asset, or how extensively you've modified it, you must give us clear and visible credit, accessible to the intended audience of your work. Each Asset includes a README with specific attribution instructions. Read and follow those instructions, since they may vary between Assets.
If an Asset's README does not specify a credit format, use the following as a fallback (you may credit using either "DENDEWA LAB" or "dendewa"):
Original / Standalone Assets:
Credit: [Asset Name] by DENDEWA LAB (or dendewa) (https://dendewa.vercel.app/)
Assets based on Rui:
Credit: [Asset Name] by Rui & DENDEWA LAB (or dendewa) (https://dendewa.vercel.app/)
Assets based on iKeno:
Credit: [Asset Name] by iKeno & DENDEWA LAB (or dendewa) (https://dendewa.vercel.app/)
Failure to provide proper attribution is a material violation of this License. See Violations & Termination for what that means.
MIT & Base Code
Some of our Assets incorporate source code originally released under the MIT License, including code derived from Ray-MMD. We follow all obligations imposed by that license, and we expect users of those Assets to do the same. Where MIT-licensed code is present, the following applies:
Preservation of Notices
You must preserve all original copyright notices, author attributions, and permission statements found in the headers of any source files. These notices may not be removed, altered, or obscured, regardless of how much you modify the code.
Scope of Each License
The MIT License applies only to the underlying core logic and structure of the base code. Nothing in this License restricts, narrows, or otherwise limits the rights already granted to you under the MIT License with respect to that code. Our Restrictions and other terms apply to the modifications, extensions, and original implementations we've introduced, and to the Assets as a combined, distributed work available through our Platform. If a genuine conflict arises between this License and the MIT License over the MIT-licensed base code itself, the MIT License governs as to that code.
Adopted Technology & Third-Party Permissions
Some of our Assets incorporate a feature, technique, or piece of functionality we were given direct permission to adopt by its original creator, granted through an individually negotiated arrangement evidenced in writing, rather than a formal open-source license like MIT. This section covers that category, and is separate from MIT & Base Code, which only applies where the original creator released their work under a formal license.
Nature of the Permission
This kind of permission is granted directly to us by the original creator, for the specific use we requested at the time. It is not a public license available to the general community. Depending on what was requested and agreed, it may include the right to modify and redistribute our own implementation of the adopted technology, in addition to internal or personal use. It does not carry the broad, standardized terms of a formal open-source license, and its scope is limited to what was actually requested and granted. We keep records of these permissions and will make reasonable efforts to share the substance of a specific permission with a User upon request, where doing so doesn't conflict with the original creator's wishes.
Attribution to the Original Creator
Where we've adopted technology under this section, we credit the original creator as the source of the underlying technique, separately from the attribution owed to us under Usage & Credit. If you use, modify, or redistribute an Asset that incorporates adopted technology of this kind, you must preserve both the credit to us and the credit to the original creator, as indicated on the relevant Asset page or README.
Scope of Our Rights
Our own extensions, modifications, and original implementations built on top of adopted technology are governed by this License, including Restrictions and Usage & Credit, the same way as any other Original Asset. This License does not grant you any rights directly against the original creator beyond what they granted to us, and it does not expand the scope of the original creator's permission beyond what was actually requested and agreed.
Unauthorized Copying by Third Parties
The permission described in this section is granted to us specifically, and does not extend to any other User or third party. If a User copies our implementation of adopted technology directly from one of our Assets, instead of getting their own permission from the original creator, we treat this the same as any other unauthorized copying of our original work under Restrictions, regardless of whether the original creator has separately granted, or would be willing to grant, permission to that User directly. Copying our Asset does not carry the original creator's permission with it, and remains subject to the same violation and enforcement provisions in Violations & Termination.
Restrictions
There are certain things you may not do with our Assets. These restrictions protect the integrity of our work, the rights of contributing creators, and the trust of the broader community. Here's a summary:
Unauthorized Commercialization
You may not sell, sublicense, or otherwise commercialize the Assets as standalone products. Assets may only be monetized when they're part of a larger, substantially original work in which they serve a supporting role, not the main thing being sold. Reselling an Asset on its own, bundling our Assets into a standalone pack, or offering a modified or derivative version of an Asset as a standalone product does not meet this standard, regardless of how much it's been modified or how the offering is marketed. Modifying an Asset does not, by itself, turn it into an independent work exempt from this restriction.
As a simple rule of thumb: if someone is paying primarily because of our Asset, that's not allowed. If someone is paying primarily because of your overall work, and our Asset is just one small part of it, that's fine. If it's unclear whether a project meets this standard, contact us at the address in Contact Information before commercializing it.
This restriction applies to our own original modifications, extensions, and additions on top of any third-party base code we use. It does not, and cannot, restrict any rights you already have under an applicable open-source license with respect to the unmodified base code itself. See MIT & Base Code for details.
False Authorship
You may not represent our Assets as your own original creation, no matter how much they've been modified. This includes removing, replacing, or obscuring existing credits to misrepresent where the work came from. The attribution requirements in Usage & Credit apply to all uses of our Assets, including derivative and heavily modified works, and don't shrink as the degree of modification grows.
Redistribution Without Attribution
You're welcome to fork our Assets and redistribute your own derivative work. But in every case, our name must stay clearly visible to the end audience. No matter how extensively you've modified the Assets, credit to us must be retained. Redistribution without proper attribution is a direct violation of this license.
Third-Party Hosting & Mirroring
You may not re-upload, mirror, or otherwise host our Assets, whether unmodified or trivially altered, on any third-party platform, file host, or repository, regardless of attribution. A trivial alteration is one that doesn't meaningfully change the function, structure, or substance of the Asset.
Derivative Relicensing & Downstream Compliance
You may not sublicense, relicense, or release modified or derivative versions of our Assets under open-source or proprietary terms that permit standalone sale, omit mandatory attribution, or circumvent the Restrictions set forth in this License. All downstream recipients and users remain bound by these core restrictions.
Violations & Termination
Not every violation of this License is equally serious. We distinguish between minor and material violations when deciding how to respond. DENDEWA LAB has sole authority to determine whether a violation is minor or material and whether a pattern of disregard exists, based on documented evidence. We exercise this authority in good faith and in accordance with the procedures in this License and the Terms of Service, as applicable.
Minor Violations
A minor violation is inadvertent, promptly correctable, and does not involve commercializing an Asset in violation of Restrictions, misrepresenting authorship, or unauthorized third-party hosting. This can include an incorrect or incomplete attribution format, or a missed credit that's corrected promptly once raised. For a minor violation, we'll typically notify you and give you a reasonable opportunity, generally at least 14 days, to fix the issue before taking any further action. Revocation is not triggered by a minor violation that's cured within that period.
A single minor violation not cured within the notice period will typically result in revocation of your rights to the affected Asset only. If you commit repeated minor violations, or show a pattern of disregard for these terms rather than an isolated oversight, we may treat this as a material violation and impose the consequences below, including prohibiting you from using any of our Assets in future projects.
Material Violations
A material violation is any violation of Usage & Credit or Restrictions that is not a minor violation as described above, including unauthorized commercialization, false authorship, redistribution without attribution that isn't promptly cured, and third-party hosting or mirroring. A material violation, or an uncured minor violation, may result in revocation of your right to use the Assets under this License.
Revocation means you must immediately stop using, modifying, and distributing the Assets, and remove any copies in your possession or control. Revocation does not require taking down previously published work that was created and distributed lawfully in full compliance with this License prior to revocation. However, this non-takedown allowance does not apply to any distribution, release, or product that itself constitutes a material violation, false authorship, unauthorized commercialization, or intellectual property theft, all of which remain subject to immediate takedown and enforcement remedies. After revocation, you may not use the Assets in any new, ongoing, or updated project.
For a material violation, or repeated minor violations treated as material, we may, at our discretion, take one or more of the following actions. We only take these actions after a documented violation, and after notifying you and giving you a reasonable opportunity to respond or cure the issue where applicable:
- Prohibit you from using any of our Assets in any future project, even one unrelated to the violation
- Suspend or ban your platform access and community privileges as set forth in the Platform Access & Termination section of our Terms of Service
- Add your identifier to a shared community blacklist in accordance with the criteria and procedures set forth in the Platform Access & Termination section of our Terms of Service
If your rights under this License have been revoked, or you have been subjected to platform or community sanctions, you may submit an appeal in accordance with the Appeals & Reinstatement procedure set forth in our Terms of Service.
Failing to comply with the notice-preservation and scope obligations in MIT & Base Code is a violation of the MIT License itself with respect to the affected base code, and is governed by that license rather than the revocation mechanism described here. We do not claim, and this section does not give us, the authority to revoke any rights granted to you under the MIT License.
Failing to comply with the attribution obligations in Adopted Technology & Third-Party Permissions is treated as a violation of this License and follows the minor and material violation framework above, since the permission underlying that section runs to us directly and isn't a separate license granted to you by the original creator.
Revocation under this section applies only to the rights granted to you under this License. It does not affect, limit, revoke, or otherwise alter any rights separately granted to you under the MIT License for MIT-licensed base code, or any rights a third-party creator has granted you directly under their own license for a Contributed Asset.
We may also, at our discretion, take no action, delay action, or resolve a violation informally, for either a minor or material violation. Doing so once doesn't waive our right to enforce this License another time.
Disclaimer & Liability
The Assets are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the Assets will be error-free, secure, or compatible with your systems or software.
We don't warrant that we hold clear title to, or full licensing authority over, every Contributed Asset hosted on our Platform. You're responsible for independently verifying the license terms of any Contributed Asset before relying on it, particularly for commercial use.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we're not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including loss of data, loss of profits, or system damage, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Assets, even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.
You're solely responsible for evaluating whether the Assets suit your intended use, and for taking appropriate precautions, like backing up your data, before incorporating the Assets into your projects.
General Provisions
The restrictions in Restrictions, along with the disclaimers in Disclaimer & Liability, remain in effect for any use of the Assets, including uses before a change to this License or before revocation of your rights under Violations & Termination. Termination or revocation of your rights under this License doesn't release you from obligations arising from your use of the Assets before that termination or revocation.
If any provision of this License is found unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest of this License stays in full force and effect.
DENDEWA LAB operates as an independent digital community and creative collective. This License is governed by general principles of digital property and open creative licensing, construed in good faith under the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where our operators reside, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disagreements are handled through our informal review and appeals mechanisms before any other action.
